Monday-Morning Moving: Going Global With Cover-More


One of the wonderful things about being Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection is that you have the opportunity to partner with some fantastic organizations from the other side of the world, and create a whole that’s larger than the sum of its parts — what’s known in the parlance of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as a “win-win.”

We’re having one of those win-win moments today. We’ve just announced a partnership with Cover-More, the leading provider of travel insurance in Australia and New Zealand.

Cover-More’s been around a while. The company was established in 1986 in Australia and expanded over time to India, Malaysia, New Zealand, the U.K., and now the U.S. Cover-More has partnered with many well-known brands around the globe, including airlines, and has strong relationships with major travel agents in Australia and abroad.

Every year, Cover-More provides travel insurance to more than 2.2 million travelers around the world, handles more than 400,000 travel medical-assistance calls and delivers emergency help to more than 35,000 travelers.

For the time being, the partnership consists of BHTP underwriting Cover-More’s product launch into the U.S. market. Any American traveler who visits will recognize ExactCare, sold by Cover-More but backed and serviced by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection.

CoverMoreIn addition, several international airline carriers that have relationships with Cover-More will be offering these same BHTP products to their U.S.-based travelers heading abroad.

This brand-new partnership combines two of the most powerful innovations to hit travel insurance in the last decade: BHTP’s claims processing and real-time payment platform, BHTP Burst, and Cover-More’s proprietary online optimization platform, Impulse.

If you haven’t already heard about BHTP Burst, it can reimburse travelers for covered claims in seconds, via a debit card into a specified account. It’s instant payments the way you want them —and the way you can get them lots of places that aren’t called travel insurance.

You probably haven’t heard of Cover-More’s Impulse, but it’s equally cool. It integrates with e-commerce websites and travel booking engines to offer insurance options specifically tailored to individual travelers and specific trips. In other words, it looks at where you’re going and how you’re getting there and comes up with the right travel insurance for you.

We’re here to help Cover-More reach its ultimate goal of being able to meet its customers’ needs quickly and completely – anywhere, anytime.

Naturally, the leaders of both companies had some big things to say about the partnership.
