Not all cliches are bad. In fact, most cliches got to be cliches by being so good that everyone did them … at which point they became cliches.
Such is the case with the end-of-year look-back/look-ahead stories. They’ve become a cliche because everyone does them, and everyone does them because the end of the year is a appropriate and convenient time to look back at the past year and look ahead to the next.
And at this time of year nothing much else tends to be happening, so you have a lot of journalists with time on their hands.
When it comes to end-of-year stories, we have FOMO just like everyone else, so Connexions podcast hosts Kit Kiefer and Lisa Bellavin took the opportunity to look back at travel happenings 2016 (Kit) and look ahead to 2017 in travel (Lisa). Their conclusions may surprise you … or they may just be next year’s cliches in the making.
Happy New Year, everyone.
